MP3s Just As Bad For Environment As CDs

Environmental groups say the transition from CDs to online, digital music is INCREASING TOXIC TRASH, not decreasing it. People are burning more CDs than they're not buying. Worse, people treat iPods like disposable razors, and are tossing them in the trash in ever increasing numbers. iPods contain "various heavy metals and chemicals such as lead, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) that are considered more harmful to the environment than any CD or its packaging."
