New Sensors Hit for Touchy, Feely Robots

The UK's Shadow Robot Company unveiled polyurethane tactile ROBOT FINGERTIPS THAT CAN "FEEL." The fingertip sensors come in both "finger" and "thumb" shapes. Each contains 34 or 22 individual tactile elements (tactels), each of which is sensitive to loads ranging from 0.1N to 25N. The tactels are evenly distributed over the surface.
