Virtual Cow Fence Replaces Real One
Australian scientists at a company called CSIRO have invented GPS-based virtual fences for cows. The project, called "BOVINES WITHOUT BORDERS," lets ranchers create a virtual fence in computer software. Then, when one of their cows fitted with special, battery-powered GPS and other electronics comes up to the edge of the boundary, it gets a warning tone, followed by a mild shock.
