America's Army Soon Will Be Arcade Game
GlobalVR and the U.S. Army plan to roll out a coin-operated America's Army ARCADE GAME. America's Army was developed and is used as a recruiting tool for the U.S. Army. "AMERICA’S ARMY is an arcade style training game based on actual Army training exercises designed to challenge Soldiers to hone their skills. Players are rewarded for teamwork, proper use of the Rules of Engagement, accuracy, and target identification," according to the press release.

The US has never won a significant military engagement without superior numbers or equipment. Perhaps this might improve the combat record of the most un-heroic nation in human history.

This from somebody who's too much of a pussy even to give his name when insulting people.
But you know what? You're right. I'm going to write to my congressman immediately and suggest that in the next "military engadgement" we try to send fewer people and less equipment so we can impress random losers who post annonymous insults on tech blogs.

That would be in contrast to the great job you're doing WITH the superior numbers and firepower you have in theatre right now? Because that IS rather impressive.
I don't support the war in Iraq, but looking at it dispassionately, what's interesting about it was the initial invasion. No military in the history of the world has been able to invade a country on the other side of the world and take its capital in two weeks.
When it comes the the occupation, no amount of equipment, training, military culture or heroism can stop somebody from burying a bomb on a road or sending a retarded kid with explosives into a crowded marketplace where there are no troops around.
That's why Islamic fascists use such tactics in Iraq (and in Israel, the occupied territories, Afghanistan, India, the Phillipines, Chechnya, etc.

You can't realy even use the invasion as a solid example though because you were helped by uk forces, i don't think the us army does a bad job but they are too well trained for killing and haven't got enough training in peacekeeping at the end of the conflict, not that it would help in circumstances where gurilla tactics are used. those kind of circumstances are where this technology could give soldiers the edge and i think would help the us army greatly because they aren't well trained to deal with other situations.
