Obama's movie DVD gift to Brown won't play in UK
Some in the UK press slammed President Obama recently for a series of subtle insults and snubs, including the inadequacy of a gift by the president of 25 classic movies on DVD. Now, it turns out, the PM can't even watch those movies in the UK because of geography-based DRM that prevents the movies from being played on some DVD players outside the US -- including Brown's.

Why are we just now talking about this on this side of the pond? I heard about this right after it happened, but it seems to be a slow story to "catch on" here in the States. When Bush was in office, it was reported instantly when he made a mistake.
Stick to commenting about stuff you know something of. Region free DVD players can be bought almost anywhere on the planet and they will play DVD's from anywhere on the planet. This is so rudimentary it's embarrassing.
Honestly I am shocked and more than a little embarrassed about this present. Where was the State Dept in this?
They had to know he was going to get something special and meaningful, as he did, so the DVDs that don't even play in the UK is really a gaffe beyond belief. And don't get me started on the gift Mrs. Clinton gave her counterpart in Russia, another gaffe! Not the ideal foreign policy start!
DUH...How thoughtful.
That's for giving the world Gary Glitter!
The media has been biased for a very long time. Obama's lies, deceptions and outright mistakes are never remarked on in the press. While republican leaders are slammed for things they didn't even do.
Welcome to America. Where our media is democratic, instead of being impartial.
This is really disturbing to me on many levels.
Not only did he give a stupid dumb gift that you can buy at Walmart for under $150 and won't work in the UK...
He RETURNED the bust that was given to Bush from the UK. That Winston Churchill bust was a symbol of the unity between the USA and the UK.
It almost seems like he is trying to destroy our relationship with the UK. And the only reasons I can come up with that he would want to do so, scare the heck out of me.
The USA voted for change. Well, we got it...
Because everyone still has a case of Obama fever. Is anybody really suprised that a president with exactly zero real world political experience is going to bubmle his way through his term.
