Suprise, suprise. More people with much more time than sense. "Oh if I swab this thing and put it in a growth medium, I can easily scare the hell out of loads of people". You put bacteria in a growth medium! What did you expect to happen? Oh no, there's some Staphylococcus on my phone! It doesn't matter! There will be such minute amounts it won't make the slightest difference. Oh and as for the herpes thing, people you'd lend your phone to often are your friends so you'll be hanging around with them, making aerosol transmission and direct-contact transmission far more likely than just the odd phone use.

Some basic ideas, but presented poorly and inaccurately.

I have known about germs on our cell phones for a few years now! Good Morning America did a similar piece in 2006. Last year, I found a product that works great. wirelesswipes.com. The wipes are quick drying, and don't leave streaks on the phone! Give them a try!
