Carrier pigeon used to send data; faster than broadband
IT staff at a South African financial services company plan to use a pigeon to transfer data because they say it's faster than their broadband Internet connection.
The company, The Unlimited Group, says four gigabytes of data takes six hours to transfer between two corporate offices, which are 50 miles apart. A locally owned carrier pigeon named Winston, however, can carry a flash drive that distance in 45 minutes.

Ha ha ha, nature laughs at us! :D
Wow, it's like a blast from the past, but w/o the legs...There In lies the question, how does one train a pigeon, especially since they like to eat off of curbs???
I believe their use of a flash drive violates RFC 1149.

How do they plan to deal with packet loss?
Them birds are going over 65 mph...don't think so.
It may be 50 miles via surface streets by car, but only 25 miles as the crow... Carrier Pigeon flies. Then again, maybe it's an African Swallow instead.
They do not specify anything about storage ……… what’s the maximum capacity ?
10 Micro HCSD cards per flight ?
or they will be installing an internal HDD with SATA/USB access .... for easy downloads of course ROFL !!
So you can actually hack that company with an air gun :D
are they crazy????
