Camera Phone Takes Pictures Underwater

A Minnesota newspaper called the Pioneer Press tested the ruggedized, water-resistant Casio G'zOne Type-V camera phone, including a test to see if the phone takes UNDERWATER PHOTOS. It does! What I'd like to know, however, is whether you can make calls underwater. (props to picturephoning.com)

I looked at this phone up close when in came out, after anticipating it's arrival. I was very dissapointed that once again, Verizon dummbed it down. Only 2MP CCD, no Bluetooth, no Compass, and at $300 it is overpriced. Fortunately my company provided me a free blackberry before they came out, now I have to wait for a waterproof blackberry!

Well, it does include a compass.
Considering the targeted public I don't see much use for the bluetooth.
This phone is manufactured for Japan so there's not much reasons for it to be sold anywhere else.
I did try taking pictures underwater but I must admit I never tried to call from the pool (would the staff let me ?)
For common use the 1.3 MP (not 2) camera is good enough (good light sensibility so neat pictures instead of the usual blurred Hi-res useless stuff).
The only thing I regret is the impossibility to use memory cards (cable transfer takes ages). As a result, you can't really store many pictures (maybe about 20 at full res) and the compression becomes actually more of a problem than the resolution.
The autonomy is great and it reloads its battery real fast (which I do less than once a week).
There's a new model out since last november actually which I heard resolves most of the first one's weaknesses. (and uses a way sufficient 2 MP camera)
I think I'll wait for the next one to come out to change though (probably next october).
