If this is a true story...LMFAO!!! Ahhh...it's such sweet bliss to hear this kinda stuff. Practice what you preach sista!!!
The story no longer exists at Vallejo Times Herald. Here goes another source www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/05/18/BAG9MPTMU88.DTL
There's no mention whether she was using a headset or holding onto her phone. It's not really ironic, and I'm not sure why this is even hypocritical. For one thing, she supports a law that requires cell users to have a headset or earpiece while driving. I bet she was using an earpiece while driving. The news article does a blatant job trying to make it look like she was talking without a headset. Poor journalism practice.
I have to concur with the comment above, they stress the article put on her state funded car, to the point of listing the car she drove prior to the accident, leads me to conclude they had a axe to grind.
No where does it mention if she was or wasn't wearing a headphone.
So she may have been practicing what she preached, this article isn't going to tell you.
A cell phone specific ordinance is pandering plain and simple - distracted driving was an infraction long before Carol and her cohorts voted in this ridiculous law du jour.
CA schools, prisons, and health care are broken and we're spending money literally like there is no tomorrow, but at least we have this wholely unnecessary and redundant law to protect us from a miniscule but headline grabbing problem.
Practically everyone I know talks on a mobile phone while driving. It is also documented that doing so is dangerously distracting. I am glad that neither she nor anyone else was injured.
If you follow the link above to the SF chronicle site, it says she was reaching for her cell phone while it rang and got distracted. That proves she did not have any type of bluetooth or similar headset on and in use. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Hypocritical or not, it actually proves her point. Cell phones are very distracting and shouldn't be used while driving.
Yes I have to agree, it's so funny how our Government people are, they say trim the fat, and you know who there talking to? The poor of course, because if we don't trim the fat , they can't get a raise, Just love Governer spitzer wants to collect taxs from the native americans for selling to non-natives, when after all the Government has never paid their bill they owe for running the expressway on native american land.
