China Using NEC Border Camera Systems

China is using NEC's sophisticated new border surveillance camera system to make sure Chinese mainlanders don't try to sneak into Hong Kong. The system reads licence plates as the cars drive up (plates are associated with individual people in China, not cars). Then, the system does FACE RECOGNITION on everybody in the car, and checks their face info against their ID cards, which also have biometric and other personal information.
