'Pong' Integrated Into Vegas Slot Machine

A new slot machine approved in concept yesterday by the Nevada Gaming Commission combines for the first time ever the "chance" of regular slot machines with the "skill" of Atari's 1972 classic arcade game, "Pong." Called "Bally Pong," the new video slot machine is played just like any other. But when three "bonus icons" show up on the five-reels (a one in 70 chance), the player gets a 45-SECOND GAME OF "PONG" to increase the payout. Bally plans future arcade-themed slot machines, including one based on "Breakout."
